Early Reader Acclaim

“This is a wild ride!”

“The author has a flair for rhythmic and vivid language.”

“Very curious and compelling, like a slow, weirdly romantic suicide, kind of like Bukowski meets Kerouac meets Rush Limbaugh, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Reminiscent of Hunter S. Thompson.
Raw…               like Into the Wild.

“…A genre of its own, but a weird one.”

            “Psychological conflict at its best!”

“Extraordinarily brave, brutally honest, and utterly riveting, Boglioli’s memoir of addiction and life on the streets proves nearly impossible to put down. He takes us into the underbelly of homelessness in New York and reflects on the soul-destroying cycle of addiction to achieve a remarkable level of intimacy with his readers. Boglioli combines acerbic prose with a keen intellect to put human faces on the men and women we see huddled in doorways and sleeping under overpasses as he recounts the struggles and challenges he faced. Often harrowing, bleak, and explicit but always emotionally charged, he shares with us the lengths to which he went to survive; yet for all the darkness it is surprisingly uplifting and far from self-pitying. Readers will be affected in various ways, but perhaps most poignant is an appreciation that hard luck and bad decisions can quickly lead us to rock bottom. No matter how low we sink, Boglioli is proof that we can find our way back, and for this reason New York City Bum is an absolute must-read and is recommended without reservation.”

“This fascinating, meticulously written memoir of life on the streets of New York offers a great and underrepresented point of view. The glossary is an unusual touch. Thank you!”
—A Benjamin Franklin Awards juror

“The author takes the reader on a wild and crazy jaunt through the Big Apple, with all the temptations that can befall a guy trying to make sense of his life.”
—A Benjamin Franklin Awards juror

“A gritty, socioligically engaging memoir.”

-Kirkus Reviews

“Mr. Boglioli wins high scores for capturing my interest. His colorful descriptions of the quest to become less than whole fired on all cylinders throughout. New York City Bum is an expressive homage to the horrors of drug addiction.”

–Feathered Quill Review

“A gritty, hard-knocking plunge into the gutters of New York City in Boglioli’s self-inflicted journey to hell and his subsequent rise. A Dante’s Inferno for the 21st century.”
